Tom Giancola focuses on policy issues related to defense, space, transportation and artificial intelligence.

Tom joined the MIT Washington Office in March 2022 as policy associate. He has served as chair of the Defense Innovation Task Force at the Association of American Universities.

Tom joined MIT from the office of Congresswoman Ann Kuster of New Hampshire, where his portfolio included defense, telecommunications, transportation and economic development. Tom received a B.A. and M.P.P from the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire, where he was awarded first prize in the New Hampshire Social Innovation Challenge for his work on expanding rural broadband access.
