Budget

The President’s fiscal year 2017 budget request releases on February 9th. Several innovation and educational priorities are expected: clean energy and transportation research, computer science education, the “Moonshot to Cure Cancer,” and agriculture research. (Source: White House)

Research

The OECD released data on R&D funding by nations. Two thirds of countries’ analyzed have decreased their Gross Domestic Expenditures on R&D. China’s R&D continues to surge compared to the U.S. and Europe. (Source: OECD)

Health

The Food and Drug Administration approved more drugs in 2015 than any year since 1996. Sixty percent of those drugs benefited from expedited review. (Source: Chemical and Engineering News)
